Invasive fungal infections, particularly those caused by Candida species, are common in  critically ill patients and are associated with considerable morbidity and mortality.

Candida infection account for about 80% of major systemic fungal infections and are the most common cause of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients. Candidal infections are one of the most common hospital-acquired infections.

TIB real-time fluorescence PCR diagnostic kit represents an effective tool for the detection and identification of Candida species and shows highly sensitive detection and the ability to  identify the major species involved in Candida infection.
